The ACSS Executive Board and staff conducted its first meet and confer of 2008 with the Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) on Friday, January 25, 2008.

2007 was a year focused on strengthening our organization. ACSS entered into a new “Service Agreement” with CSEA which for the first time established organizational autonomy allowing ACSS to develop its own PAC and to choose its own political candidates. This past year saw ACSS leadership and staff focusing on two items: our membership and forging new relationships with the Governor’s Cabinet Members and his Administration to improve salaries and benefits for our members.

The Juvenile Justice Division of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has announced it will close two of its correctional facilities, Paso Robles and De Witt in Stockton, in July of this year. The area of layoff for Paso Robles will be San Luis Obispo County and for De Witt, it will be San Joaquin, Amador and Sacramento Counties.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Preliminary results of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) Retired Members Board Election indicate Henry Jones, a retired chief financial officer formerly employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District, has been elected to fill an open seat on CalPERS 13-member Board of Administration. Final certification of results will be made by the Secretary of State.
