ACSS-sponsored Assembly Bill 747, authored by Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee (R-San Luis Obispo), was signed by the governor and became law on Oct. 5, 2005. Legislation allows rank and file workers to donate leave hours to excluded employees.

The CSEA General Council delegate vote to allow ACSS to separate was taken on Sunday, Oct. 9. The CSEA Bylaws require a YES vote by two-thirds of the voting delegates, and ACSS missed the needed count by a mere 50 votes.
