Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger moved Wednesday to stem an exodus of psychiatrists and other employees from the Department of Mental Health to more lucrative jobs in the prison system by ordering up $43 million in pay raises for them over the next two years.

  

Kisha Robertson, ACSS' staff counsel, is sworn in as a licensed California attorney by Lt.Gov. John Garamendi in a special ceremony on March 7, 2007.

The ceremony, held in the llieutenant governor's Capitol office, was witnessed by several ACSS members and staffers.

  

The state's independent Legislative Analyst Office, headed for over two decades by Elizabeth Hill, just released its analysis of the governor's proposed 2007-08 budget. One section of this analysis, titled "Legislative Oversight of State Employee Compensation," reviews the historical and current processes the state uses for setting compensation levels for all state employees.

  

In a meet and confer ACSS held with DPA on Feb. 23, 2007, the following excluded employee issues were discussed at length.
