ACSS has just completed the process of conducting elections for new Chapter Officers and Delegates to both our Delegate Assembly (July 20-22, 2007 in Sacramento) and CSEA's General Council (October 6-8, 2007 in San Jose).
  

Continuing the monthly meetings between the Association of California State Supervisors and DPA regarding issues that affect some or all state excluded employees, the following is a summary of issues discussed at the May 18, 2007, Meet and Confer.

  
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger based his May budget revision on overly optimistic assumptions that could lead to a $3 billion shortfall in the fiscal year that begins July 1 and more than a $5 billion problem the following year, the Legislature's nonpartisan budget adviser said Tuesday.   
Paying for health and dental care for the state's current and future retirees could cost taxpayers nearly $48 billion over the next 30 years if the state does nothing. But state Controller John Chiang said the problem can be controlled.   
State Controller John Chiang has come up with some fresh and scary numbers on what it will cost to pay for promised health care benefits to state employees over the next three decades.
