We agree. We are not satisfied either. But for the record, lets look at what we did get:
- We broke the administration's six-year cycle of ignoring excluded employees!
- We have no take-aways!
- Health insurance co-pays did NOT go up!
- We have established for the first time a solid 5% differential between subordinate and supervisor. (The list has been published and we know it is not all-inclusive, but DPA is working with ACSS to identify those who were left off.)
The truth is, excluded employees almost got nothing! At best, you would have been given even less than the rank and file if ACSS had not intervened. We stepped up, fought for recognition of managers and supervisors, argued against further salary compaction ... and justified our position with salary survey results, TaskForce recommendations and real stories about upside-down salaries. And our voice was heard!
We are not happy with the 3.5% cost-of-living adjustment. It's not a raise! ACSS knows that the state must begin addressing the pay disparity between rank and file and its management team ... and they must do it now!
ACSS will be attending scheduled meetings with top administration officials to address this very issue. Our message is clear: We will not rest until the "State's Management Team" is compensated fairly. If you are angry, don't blame ACSS. Tell the governor. Tell your elected leaders. Tell them your personal stories. They control the purse strings.
The lessons you learned as a rank-and-file employee still stand: "There is strength in numbers and we are stronger together!"
ACSS is not satisfied until you are satisfied. This is a very tough fight, but ACSS is determined to go the distance -- for you.
