Separation vote fails

The CSEA General Council delegate vote to allow ACSS to separate was taken on Sunday, Oct. 9. The CSEA Bylaws require a YES vote by two-thirds of the voting delegates, and ACSS missed the needed count by a mere 50 votes.

It was mighty close. And yet so very far away.

The CSEA General Council delegate vote to allow ACSS to separate was taken on Sunday, Oct. 9. The CSEA Bylaws require a YES vote by two-thirds of the voting delegates, and ACSS missed the needed count by a mere 50 votes. The tally:

Total delegate votes: 912
Total YES votes: 558
Total NO votes: 354
2/3 needed to pass: 608

Although ACSS leadership and members worked long and hard to make this separation a reality and are disappointed in the outcome, those same dedicated members are committed to working within the CSEA structure to improve our organization's bottom line, increase the membership rolls, and expand services to each and every ACSS member.

You can count on it!
