ACSS Confirms SPB's Adoption of New SCRT Classification

As ACSS members who are classified as Office Services Supervisors I and II will attest, it has been a long time coming to get the classification of those employees who work in the Case Records Units in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) upgraded.

On July 8, 2008, the State Personnel Board (SPB) adopted the new deep class titled Case Records Technician. Within this class, the OSSIs and OSSIIs will both be merged into the new excluded class of Supervising Case Records Technician (SCRT).

The salary range of this new supervisory class will be $3101 - $3770, which is the OSSII salary range plus a 5% differential. Because the increase is more than 9.9% for the OSSIs, they will be required to take an exam for the new class. DPA has indicated that all the OSSI’s will be placed in an out-of-class assignment (for a maximum of one year) which will be effective with the August pay period, allowing the department to begin paying these employees at the higher rate. However, DPA has also indicated that “issuance of the pay letter could take a while……but regardless.. ….it will be retro to the August pay period.” CDCR and the SPB are preparing an exam that will be given within the next 12 months.

Once we have more details we will share them with you.

Thank you for your patience during this long process. The wait is almost over!
