Budget committee releases 2008-09 plan
Senate President pro Tem Don Perata and Assembly Speaker Karen Bass were scheduled to hold a press conference July 9 to discuss the Budget Conference Committee’s 2008-09 state budget plan.
The plan rejects deep cuts in education and health care and proposes billions of dollars of tax increases by raising taxes for the wealthiest Californians, closing a corporate tax loophole and stepping up tax enforcement, among other measures. Click here to read the proposal.
