We Are Working On It!
ACSS is very much aware in the inequities that exist between the salaries of many supervisors and managers and their subordinates! This is an issue that we have been dealing with regularly for the past 6-7 years! With the recent successes of the various lawsuits filed against CDCR, the problems have been compounded. The recent Coleman equity adjustments that DPA announced have added more fuel to the blaze!
ACSS Board and staff have had monthly meet and confers with DPA which included discussions addressing the various classifications that should have been included in the Coleman salary adjustments. We have made it very clear to DPA that they have erred by not including several other supervisory and management classifications. In response, DPA has acknowledged that they have created a problem by not including many classifications such as the program directors and program assistants that work at the DDS facilities. DPA’s most recent response to ACSS is that they are working with Finance to get the funding to include those classes that were omitted.
We have asked DPA all the important questions: When will it be corrected? If it was an oversight, why is it taking so long? Which classes are you using as comparables for salaries and duties since the titles differ from CDCR to other facilities? Will it be retroactive (we have demanded this and have gotten a positive “nod” in response)? Will it be PERSable like the rank and file?
We know you are angry! We are angry too because we were talking with DPA about this issue before the final listing came out. We were assured that all the supervisor and management classes would be included. We want this to be corrected for our members as much as you want to see it in your paychecks!
Be assured that the minute we get answers to our questions, we will send out an E-Blast and post it on our web site. In the meantime, send DPA a message at lrinfo@dpa.ca.gov and let them know how you feel!
