If you want to join ACSS …

If you are a manager, supervisor, confidential or exempt employee in state service, we invite you to join the Association of California State Supervisors. ACSS is the largest organization representing state workers who are not covered by a bargaining contract. As a member of ACSS, you will not only be helping your own career; you will be joining with thousands of your colleagues to work together for better pay, benefits and working conditions for all exempt employees.

Join now by printing out this pdf version of our membership application, filling it out and mailing it to us. You don't send money. We take care of arranging your automatic dues deduction.

If you're still not sure you want to join, consider that you can enjoy advantages that more than outweigh the modest cost of your monthly dues:

  • Professional labor representation when you need counsel or help with job circumstances -- free to members.
  • The opportunity to work for better conditions for excluded employees, often dealing personally with your elected officials.
  • Networking with your peers in state service.
  • Frequent publications and a Web site that is updated almost daily bringing you information to help you do your job better.
  • A $10,000 death benefit policy absolutely FREE.
  • Discounts on a huge variety of extra benefits, including theme park and movie admissions, cruises, travel, financing options, computer purchases and a variety of insurance packages.

Your monthly dues will be less than 1 percent of your pay. To calculate your dues, use this formula (it looks more formidable than it is): Multiply your monthly salary by .007 (7/1000) and add $4.50. The minimum dues are $15 a month; the maximum you will pay is $36 a month. (Or just use our automatic calculator at left.) Once established, your dues will be automatically deducted from your salary.

Could You Use $100?

Recruit a new member to ACSS and you could be eligible to receive $100 -- per member.

The guidelines are simple!

Who is eligible for membership in ACSS?

All state managers, supervisors, exempt and confidential employees are eligible for ACSS membership. Your membership in a professional organization, like ACSS, is voluntary.

Who can receive the $100 as the recruiter?

Any ACSS or CSEA member (active or retired) is eligible to receive the $100 reward.

The $100 recruiting reward is payable after the new ACSS member has completed 6 months of continuous membership and dues deductions. The recruiter will receive a confirmation letter with specific dates and information after the membership application has been processed.

The recruiter's information must be completed on the new member's original membership application when submitted.

Who does not qualify for the recruiter reward?

CSEA members who are newly promoted (to management, supervisory and/or a confidential position) and whose membership automatically transfers into ACSS (per the ACSS Policy File) are not eligible for the recruiting reward for themselves or another recruiter.

The small print . . .

These guidelines are interpreted by the ACSS Executive Officer, with the ACSS Executive Committee determining any disputed claims.

Recruiters must observe state agency rules regarding the use of state mail and work time.
