Your ACSS labor team received an important notice from SCIF this morning regarding deadlines for rescinding of requests for the voluntary separation transition package:

Good Morning,

I understand there has been a lot of confusion surrounding the dates to submit and the dates to rescind the transition package.  The following is intended to provide clarification.

  • Employees eligible for the transition package are asked to make a final decision about the transition package no later than Monday, December 19. Requests to accept the transition package will not be accepted beyond close of business on December 19.
  • Employees may rescind their request between December 19 and December 30th or the last day of separation, whichever comes first. This is an important distinction to understand.  For example, if an employee accepts the transition package and their date of separation is December 27th, they have until December 27th to rescind their decision.  If that employee decides on December 28th (or later) that they want to rescind, it is too late. They cannot rescind their decision after their separation date, which for them was December 27th.  Another employee who accepts the transition package, and their separation date is December 30th, has until December 30th to rescind their decision.  No employee who accepts the transition package can rescind their decision after December 30th.

Please be aware if you rescind your decision HR Operations may not be able to pull the separation request from the State Controller's Office (SCO) in time to avoid payroll processing errors.  If the salary warrant needs to be returned to SCO for adjustment, due to the high number of separations and limited processing capability, the employee will not receive a salary advance on pay day, but will receive the corrected warrant from SCO in January.  If a lump sum payment for accrued leave is received in error, employees are advised not to cash the warrant as it will cause ongoing both payroll and leave issues.  As such, we encourage all employees to make a final decision by the December 19.
