In December 2010 the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) released a reorganization plan outlining various closures and relocations.
Many ACSS members faced the prospect of relocation, and SCIF’s plan failed to address the concerns of their excluded employees.
In a series of meet and confers, ACSS Senior Labor Relations Representative Bonnie Morris and ACSS Chapter 507 President Reynold Roth negotiated and convinced SCIF to meet excluded employees’ needs during this difficult transition.
ACSS was able to secure:
- Hardship consideration for excluded employees
- Relocation compensation for eligible excluded employees
- Placement by seniority
- Guaranteed positions for all excluded employees able to relocate
- New employment training as needed
- Accommodation and paid time off for job searches, interviews, etc.
- And much more!
Though this transition is difficult and inevitable for all, ACSS members can rest assured that your ACSS is constantly working with decision makers to ensure that excluded employees’ careers are protected and productive.
