Representatives from the Association of California State Supervisors (ACSS) met with newly appointed Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) Director Ron Yank Tuesday afternoon to discuss important measures needed to improve support for the state's excluded employees.
ACSS President Arlene Espinoza, Executive Director Rocco Paternoster, and Senior Labor Relations Representative (SLRR) Bonnie Morris raised a wide variety of concerns from ACSS members, including better noticing of personnel actions such as layoff notices, changes in working conditions, and Personnel Management Liaisons (PMLs); prioritizing economic negotiations with excluded employees; and solving inequity issues and compensation disparities.
As a result of the meeting, DPA Director Yank has agreed to increase cooperation with ACSS by assigning a DPA Labor Relations Officer to work as an official liaison between the two organizations. ACSS members can now expect to receive greater access to priority information in a timelier manner.
SLRR Bonnie Morris was pleased with the new administration's stance on ACSS issues.
"They get it. We don't have to convince them that California's excluded employees need greater recognition."
As always, ACSS is working proactively to ensure that the state's management team is well represented and involved in the decisions that affect them.
