As state supervisors, ACSS members know as well as anyone how to get the state working again. Governor-elect Jerry Brown wants your ideas. A suggestion form opens when you visit his Web site and each time you return to the home page. The NY Times article "The Tao of Moonbeam," on the site's homepage, praises and assesses Brown's win for California.

Re: Tell Jerry Brown how to get state working again

I have heard the current economy compared to the "Great Depression" numerous times. If history teaches us anything, during the great depression a study was done that concluded the way to break the depression is to put the people to work, or other words put money back into the economy. ok WW2 and the War effort contributed to breaking the Great Depression. Regardless of how the money gets into the economy it needs to get there. Therefore in a Recession you need to run in a deposit. All Furloughing State Workers does is take roughly 250000 individuals disposable income out of the economy. The one month in July we all got a full check The Sac Bee reported a dramatic increase in spending. So I Say Governor Brown, it seems the answer is clear. End the Furloughs and put more money back into the economy and the residual benefits will be obvious and immediate not just to state workers but to everyone who depends on people spending money for their own survival.

You need to take a look at what the Caltrans engineeres are producing vs. PY. They have year after year left money on the table. They keep protecting the engineers and not producing anything. Ask for the recap from last year from Caltrans and see what was left. At the very least $20 mil but after money is disencumberedmore like 50 + mil. Why can't we get the roads repaired because no one is making the engineeres work.
