According to The Sacramento Bee, in a year when state workers faced furloughs and minimum wage threats, the state hiring for executive positions increased. The state hired 246 executives in the first nine months of this year compared with 230 for all of last year. The average monthly pay for these positions is more than $9,000. Some of the hiring may be the result of an increase in retirements.
