Read the full story on the court ruling that denied Gov. Schwarzenegger's request to force the state controller to pay state workers minimum wage. The order gives state workers at least two more months of full pay. The story links to Judge Marlette's ruling.

How about passing a budget and then all of this is a mute point?

Re: Court ruling buys state workers at least two more months of full pay
That gives GAS two months to wise up to the fact that reducing the wages of State workers is an incredibly dumb move. Didn't Sacramento learn something from the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) process? The military knows that when you take the military payroll out of a community, you are taking more than 10 times that amount out of the local economy. So is it any surprise that revenue did not meet anticipation last year? When GAS furloughed the state workforce, he took 15% per month from our pay and more than ten times that amount out of circulation. So the grocer, gas retailer, entertainment venue, etc. aren't paying taxes on the lost revenue. Some have folded completely and their employees are now drawing unemployment. Any wonder that demand for services is higher than anticipated?
A few months ago, GAS appealed a court decision that ordered workers in the "special funded" departments back to work. Our department does not draw on the general fund at all. Where is the savings??? His argument was that it wouldn't be "fair" to other state workers for some to receive full pay and others to be furloughed. [Not fair to furlough anybody.] Now, he has targeted the unions that have not signed contracts to his liking. How is that "fair", to give some employees full pay while reducing others to minimum wage? How do you reconcile that with his argument of 4 months ago? It is all a crock. I think any current state employee is now entitled to join the VFW as they are veterans of a war against that Austrian bag of hot air. GAS is making the state workforce pay for the ineptitude of the legislature. We did not cause the fiscal crisis...the darn senarots and assembly people who cannot agree on a budget and cannot balance one are the real criminals.
Take all the criminals out to Folsom State Prison and put them in the middle of the yard. Surround them with the inmates and tell them they cannot come out until they have a balanced budget. I guarantee we would not be going long in this limbo. Come on, GAS, and target the real culprits. Leave the state workers alone.
